INCIDENT REPORT

Date: 24 April 2026 Duration: Approximately 1 hour 15 minutes Start Time: 08:10 (local time)

Summary

Yrless experienced a major service outage affecting all users on 24 April 2026, beginning at approximately 08:10 and lasting for approximately 1 hour and 15 minutes.

Root Cause

The outage was caused by a critical failure of the Uninterruptible Power Supply (UPS) unit within our core infrastructure. This hardware failure resulted in complete service unavailability during the affected period.

Resolution

Our technical team immediately identified and isolated the failed UPS unit. The faulty equipment has been removed and replaced with a fully functional unit. All services have been restored to normal operation.

Impact

All Yrless services were unavailable during the outage window. We understand the disruption this caused to your operations and sincerely apologize for the inconvenience.

Preventative Measures

We are conducting a comprehensive review of our power redundancy systems to prevent similar incidents from occurring in the future.

Travel Expense Adjustment Notice (8 April 2026)

Dear Valued Clients,

We are writing to inform you of a temporary adjustment to our travel expense charges, effective immediately.

Global fuel markets have experienced significant volatility in recent months, and New Zealand has not been immune to these pressures, with fuel costs rising considerably across the country.

We have historically absorbed travel-related cost increases to minimise impact on our clients. However, current fuel price escalation has reached a level where this is no longer commercially sustainable.

We will be implementing a temporary increase to our travel expense charges, reflecting genuine cost pressures. This adjustment will remain in place until fuel markets stabilise and will be reviewed promptly should costs decrease.

We appreciate your understanding during this challenging period. Our commitment to delivering exceptional service remains unchanged.

Increased Demand During the Holidays

With students returning home and families spending more time together over the holidays, we’re seeing a significant increase in data usage across the network. Despite what some TV ads may claim, all connection types can experience slower speeds during peak times.

We actively monitor for excessive data use and work to ensure fair access for everyone by managing data flow where necessary. Your patience and understanding during these high-demand periods are greatly appreciated.


Tower Upgrades and Independence

We’ve carried out upgrades on several tower sites to improve overall performance. These enhancements are critical to minimise disruption to service.

Additionally, we’re reducing our reliance on third-party providers by installing our own power generation systems and battery backups. These changes mean less chance of service disruption and greater control over the quality of service you receive.


Enhanced Core Network Stability and Redundancy

We’ve improved the stability and redundancy of our network core. These upgrades ensure a more seamless connection, minimize outages, and improve recovery times if any issues arise.


Upgraded Phone Systems

To enhance our communication channels, we’re upgrading our phone systems leading into the holiday break. While these changes are underway, there may be interruptions to our 0508 number.
